Accounting and Finance Placement (12 month placement)

We have a number of opportunities for vibrant undergraduates during their year in industry. One of which is a 12 month placement starting in Summer 2019 in our Finance team. You will be working as an Accounting and Finance Assistant. You will be a highly motivated and ambitious accounting and finance student, capable of managing your own tasks and workflows.


Duties

  • Reporting to the Financial Controller:

  • Posting of supplier invoices and sales invoices into Xero

  • Review of Aged Payables and Receivables

  • Prepayments and Accruals

  • Bank and credit card reconciliations

  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Forecast

  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual VAT returns and knowledge of flat rate and cash accounting

  • Knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS

  • Assisting with end of year preparation and procedures

  • Be able to work with transactions in multi-currencies

  • Ad hoc duties such as filing and expenses, and must be able to make an excellent cup of tea.

Requirements

Experience:

  • You must be studying towards an accounting and finance or business and finance bachelor’s degree

  • You must have some experience in an accounting role.

  • You must have excellent Excel skills.

Essential Skills:

  • First class interpersonal skills, including strong interviewing, questioning and presentation abilities.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Proven tenacious and positive “can do” attitude.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with our sister team in Pakistan

  • We want a self-starter, confident in their experience and knowledge, willing to learn, develop and add to their current skills.

  • You should have strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and to multi-task with excellent attention to detail

  • You will be expected to present your work to the rest of your team and confidently discuss with the individual company owner their company’s accounts.

  • We will throw you in at the deep end, do not apply if you are not excited by the prospect of this.
